Wolves star Hwang Hee chang has had his say on the penalty incident that saw Newcastle United awarded a spot-kick after a foul on Fabian Schar.

Referee Anthony Taylor pointed to the spot in the latter stages of the first-half after Hwang was deemed to have kicked Schar inside the Wolves penalty box. A lengthy VAR check backed Taylor's decision, despite protests from the Wanderers players and supporters.

Callum Wilson converted from 12 yards to double his tally on the night and put Eddie Howe's men 2-1 ahead after opening the scoring earlier on. Wolves were level thanks to Mario Lemina's header before Wilson put the visitors ahead.

Fortunately, Hwang was the hero for Gary O'Neil's side with a terrific solo goal. The forward twisted past Dan Burn before placing the ball past Nick Pope from close range.

And after the game, Wolves' top-scorer with six league goals was asked about his thoughts on the penalty incident. He told Sky Sports: " It’s difficult to say… maybe I thought I’d not touched anything, if anything I kicked the floor.

"I smashed the ball but he went to block and I stopped, but the referee gave it as a penalty. After the first half, my teammates were still telling me to just trust myself, but I wanted to try and do something in return for my team and I was so happy to score again."

The draw means Wolves have now gone five Premier League games unbeaten. Chelsea's 2-0 defeat to Brentford means O'Neil's men are only behind Mauricio Pochettino's side on goal difference.
