Floral tributes were growing in Ladywood after two teenagers died. West Midlands Police launched a murder probe as detectives tried to piece together what happened.

Diego Henry, 16, suffered a gunshot wound and was found at an address in Lighthorne Avenue at around 12.30pm, on Sunday, November 5. He died in hospital two days later.

Officers searching shrubland at a nearby canal later discovered the body of a 17-year-old boy, who was yet to be identified, on November 10. Tributes have now been left at both locations.

Flowers, balloons, candles and a whiskey bottle have been left next to the canal and on a bridge. And flowers and a note attached to some railings, near to the first scene, was addressed to Diego's family. It read: "Thinking of you all at this sad time."

Diego’s heartbroken mum previously said: “My son Diego Henry, was a pleasant and well-mannered young man, who would easily put a smile on anyone’s face. Diego will be sadly missed by his mother, father, siblings and exceedingly large circle of family and friends. Diego always expressed a passion for music and would be seen singing, dancing or rapping wherever he was.

“The circumstances surrounding Diego’s death is shocking for all, but the family would like to extend their gratitude to everyone for their continuous support, prayers and well wishes.”

Police have not yet issued any details after a forensic post-mortem examination was carried out on the unnamed teen. Although linked to the murder of Diego, police said they were not looking for anyone else in relation to his death. A 17-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of Diego’s murder remained on police bail.
