Teachers at a Birmingham school are being encouraged to use their own car park following complaints they were filling up a public site. Locals approached their local councillor claiming staff at Four Dwellings, Quinton, were using up the spots at Highfield Recreation Ground, leaving little space for them.

The car park is used by visitors to Highfield play facilities and Woodgate Valley Country Park. Some had also posted their views online claiming teachers were also parking on pavements leading to congestion along the busy bus route.

Four Dwellings bosses said they had now reminded staff to use parking at Four Dwellings Primary if they cannot find one in their own car park.

A spokesperson for Four Dwellings said: "We are aware that parking is challenging around the school and we have reminded our staff to use the parking at Four Dwellings Primary if they cannot find a space in our carpark. We have also reached out to Councillor Forsyth to reassure her that we will do everything we can to ensure there are enough places for our neighbours to be able to park safely."

Councillor Sam Forsyth said: "Four Dwellings Primary & Secondary Schools are well known & respected in Quinton. Indeed, it is the only secondary school in Q & provides a good education for many local students.

"Recently, I have been approached by several residents who live close to the secondary school who are concerned that the small car-park that serves Highfield Recreation Ground is being used all day by staff at the school on a regular basis limiting access to Highfield Rec, its play facilities & the paths leading to Woodgate Valley Country Park which are well used by residents.

"This afternoon , the school have reached out to me to discuss this issue which I am very happy to do."
