The Asian Curry Awards top 200 restaurants have been revealed with eight Birmingham restaurants and two over in Sutton Coldfield going up for the public vote. The awards, which has been dubbed the Curry Oscars, will be handed out at a ceremony in London on Sunday, November 19 and the public has been urged to vote for their favourites.
Restaurants including Michelin Star-rated Opheem and celebrity favourite haunt Asha's have been shortlisted for the awards and now it's down to the public to whittle the list down to the top 100. Then, a panel of judges from the Asian Catering Federation (ACF) will visit to determine category winners.
Among the categories is Take Away of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Street Food Restaurant of the Year. The full shortlist can be found here but we've listed the local competitors in full below.

The Asian Curry Awards cover a number of cuisines including Bangladeshi, Chinese, Indian, Thai and more. ACF chairman Yawar Khan said: "We’re seeing some remarkable innovation by pioneering restaurateurs, adapting to challenging trading conditions and more sophisticated customer preference.
"Afternoon chai, weekend brunch, more use of quality local produce – especially seafood and game, are now being widely served." The awards are sponsored this year by Just Eat.
As well as highly-rated restaurants in Birmingham, the shortlist also includes Malabar Indian Restaurant, which can be found over in Aldridge, as well as Ramadan Restaurant and Shaban Tandoori, both over in Sutton Coldfield. Over the border in Shropshire, Third Place in Shrewsbury is going up for the top prize too.
