Police were called to a property after a World War 1 shell was discovered amongst belongings. Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts were called to Bridgnorth Road in Wolverhampton following the find.

They descended on the area at around 10am on Monday, November 21. But luckily, the device was found to be inert.

It was then removed from the area and will now be safely disposed of by specialists, police have said.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police told BlackCountryLive: "We were called to a home on Bridgnorth Road, Wolverhampton, at around 10am yesterday, after a suspect World War 1 shell was discovered amongst belongings."

They added: "Officers attended and Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts were called in who confirmed the device was inert and it was removed for safe disposal."
