Peter Andre is among Birmingham commuter town's big Christmas offering as it goes head to head with rival shopping centres in the region. Redditch is pulling out all the stops to win festive shoppers from competitors like Merry Hill Shopping Centre and Birmingham's German Market.

I'm A Celebrity star Andre will host Redditch's free Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday November 25. The night before, Kingfisher Shopping Centre's hugely-popular Santa's Grotto will open with a new theme.

The Kingfisher unveiled what Christmas treats children and parents can look forward to in 2023. It kicks off with the Grotto opening on Friday November 24. It is set to be in Park Walk, between Waterstones and Coffee #1 in the busy Worcestershire shopping mall.

In a difference to previous years, the Santa's Grotto will be "a festive journey through a Christmas Tree Farm" before youngsters get to meet Father Christmas.

Andre will then add extra sparkle when he performs in the town centre on November 25. Before he takes to the stage, fans can queue up for the chance to get up close to the singer in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre from 3pm to 4.30pm.

Festive activities in Redditch town centre get under way from 11am to create a lively atmosphere and there will be a Festival of Light parade from 4.45pm.

Once it gets dark, the main Christmas Extravaganza Show will get underway at around 6pm in Market Place. That's when Andre will delight audiences and see sparkling festive lights glow around the historic town.

The Mysterious Girl singer's visit comes in a year when The Kingfisher Shopping Centre celebrates 50 years at being at the centre of the community.
