McDonald's fans are devastated after news emerged the Philly Cheese Stack was being axed by the fast food giant. Twitter users wrote on the social media platform, which has now been renamed as X, over the decision to pull the menu items from restaurants UK-wide.

The following are also being axed: Philly Cheese Stack - £6.99, McCrispy BBQ Smokehouse - £7.39, Nine-piece Chicken McNuggets meal - medium £6.69, large £7.39, Chilli Cheese Bites - £2.49 and Chilli Cheese Bites Sharebox - £6.79. Twix Toffee Apple McFlurry - £1.99 regular, £1.49 mini, M&M's Halloween McFlurry - £1.99 regular, £1.49 mini, Toffee Apple Pie - £1.99 and Toffee Apple Donut - £2.19 are also being axed.

It comes as McDonald's shakes up its menu for Christmas, and adds new items ahead of the festive season. But social media users have been left angry over the news - and have flocked to social media to have their say over the decision to pull some of their favourites.

The Philly Cheese Stack removal has proved particularly divisive. Paul DS typed: "Very short sighted decision from @McDonaldsUK to remove the Philly Cheese stack from their menu." 29 said: "The Philly cheese stack burger from maccies is an 11/10 burger."

Jennifer said: "@McDonaldsUK please don’t take the Philly Cheese Stack away from me… I’m not ready." "If @McDonaldsUK take away the Philly Cheese Stack at Christmas they’re going to ruin my whole festive season," James Dunne said. The 600-calorie burger is two succulent beef patties with a cheese sauce, two cheese slices, grilled and crispy onions and pickles served in a toasted bun.

Some have also declared it's the "best burger I've ever had", while many have called for it to become a "permanent' fixture." "Petition for McDonald's to make the Philly Cheese Stack a permanent item, best burger I've ever had," said another.
