Martin Lewis has issued a five-day warning ahead of "unpleasant conversations" on his next ITV The Martin Lewis Money Show. Mr Lewis promoted the next episode of the live show, which airs each Tuesday from 8pm to 9pm on ITV and ITVX, on Twitter, or X, on Thursday.

Mr Lewis wrote: "Unpleasant conversations: That's the main topic of @itvmlshow next week (unless news means I change). So if you've questions on wills, power of attorney, dementia finances, inheritance tax or anything else related, do suggest it here (I'll have a specialist panel helping me)."

Replying to him, Farsight Finance said: "All really important topics tbh! But also the stuff that isn't end-of-life related. Discussing and having open conversations around costs for marriage, or having children, etc. Even just how to have a chat around everyday money concerns with a partner. So many struggle here."

Usama said: "That sounds like an important and informative episode of @itvmlshow ! If you have any questions about wills, power of attorney, dementia finances, or inheritance tax, feel free to suggest them here. The specialist panel will be there to provide valuable insights and guidance. Looking forward to the episode."

Paul Brown typed: "Something that stuck with me was “When people say I’d do anything for my family they think I’d take a bullet, when what they should actually do for their family is boring everyday stuff like get life insurance and keep their affairs in order”." Dawn said: "Brilliant and much needed - I'm currently an executor to the estate of a family member, there's SO much 'stuff' that I was completely unaware of (and I like to think I'm not daft...) Given that we will all die I don't understand why we're so poorly prepared."

Desk Jet said: "When seeking under PoA to obtain a good savings deal for an elderly person with dementia, the challenge of providing evidence of their identity and domicile when they don’t have a current driving licence, passport, or other expected forms of ID."

"Not a question, but suggestion - mention that those applying for a power of attorney should clarify what for. Very few people know that a POA covers health & welfare OR financial affairs, not both. You can apply for both, but applying for a POA does not automatically cover both," Lou said.

Cat said: "Unpleasant, but necessary. I work for a solicitors, l there's definitely an uptick in number of people doing Lasting Powers of Attorneys (and Wills). Please mention LPAs are currently taking 3+ months to register at Office of the Public Guardian and the £82 OPG Reg fee for each."
