A man died in Shrewsbury today as emergency services rushed to a residential street after being called to a reported "assault". West Mercia Police said earlier this afternoon, August 21, that Berwick Avenue was closed after the force received a report that a man had been attacked in the Coton Hill area.

It later added: "Four people have been arrested in connection with the incident as enquiries continue". West Midlands Ambulance Service told BirminghamLive that a man was found with life-threatening juries and was confirmed dead at the scene.

An ambulance service spokesperson said: “We were called to an assault on Berwick Avenue, Shrewsbury at 1.12pm. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midland Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.

"Upon arrival we found a man with life-threatening injuries. He received advanced life support and advanced trauma care from ambulance staff at the scene but sadly, nothing more could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.”
