A man has been viciously ‘attacked with weapons’ walking along an alleyway between a car park and a road. The attack took place in The Ridings in the Bicton Heath area of Shrewsbury shortly after midnight on Wednesday, September 6.

The man was walking between the car park and The Ridings when the incident took place. He was left with serious injuries and treated by paramedics.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to reports of an assault on The Ridings in Bicton Heath, Shrewsbury at around 12.15pm on Wednesday, September 6.

"An ambulance and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews discovered a man with potentially serious injuries. He was treated by ambulance crews but declined hospital treatment and so was given self-care advice and discharged at the scene.”

Two men were arrested on suspicion of causing GBH with intent and have been released on police bail. Now West Mercia Police is appealing for witnesses to come forward. A spokesperson for the force said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault that took place on The Ridings in Bicton Heath, Shrewsbury.

“Just after 12.05am on Wednesday, 6 September the victim sustained serious injuries after he was attacked with weapons while he was walking down the alleyway between the car park and the Ridings in Shrewsbury. Two people were later arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and remain on police bail."

Detective Sergeant Hon added: “We would like to speak to anyone with information or who saw the attack happen. We would also be interested in speaking to anyone who has doorbell/ CCTV footage of the attack, or people passing by the area at the time of the attack who may have captured dash cam footage.’’
