A man remains on bail after a dad-of-two was mauled to death by suspected XL Bullies two months ago. Ian Price, 52, sustained devastating injuries after he was attacked in his mother's garden in Main Street, Stonnall on September 14.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham in a critical condition and tragically died a short time later. A 30-year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion of being in charge of dogs dangerously out of control causing injury. He was re-arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and released on conditional bail.

More than two months after the attack, Staffordshire Police said: “The investigation is ongoing and the man arrested remains on conditional bail.”

One of the dogs involved in the attack died after being restrained by members of the public while the other was put down by a vet. Police confirmed they were believed to be XL Bully dogs but more tests were needed to determine the breed.

The Villa fan was well-respected and known in the area. Hundreds turned out to a candle light vigil at Stonnall Playing Fields on September 23, to honour his memory.

Rev McKeon said: "We’ve gathered this evening as a community bound together in grief and sadness. Our hearts are broken and our minds are in turmoil after the events of last week.

"There are lots of things we still don’t understand. As we stand here together let us draw strength and comfort from each other to help us all cope with the days, weeks and months to come."

A book of condolence was also placed The Royal Oak pub - near where the incident took place - for local residents to sign.
