John Lewis' Christmas store has slashed the price of its scented candle advent calendar due to an unforeseen "error" on the packaging. The small mistake means the price has dropped almost 30 per cent for shoppers.
The John Lewis Scented Tealight Candle Advent Calendar was originally priced at £25. Canny Christmas bargain-hunters can snap it up for £18 - but they need to know one thing.
Featuring 25 scented candles including "frosted mistletoe" and "cinnamon spiced vanilla", the advent calendar is the British department store's alternative to a similar Yankee Candle Wreath Advent Calendar, which costs £21.49 on Amazon.

But when sales assistants were preparing to put them out on show, like at its flagship Midlands store at Touchwood in Solihull, one minor detail stood out as wrong.
A John Lewis spokesperson explained: "Please note due to a packaging error, there are two doors marked 21 and no door marked 20. We apologise for the inconvenience."
They added the price had been reduced to reflect "the error" - from £25 to £18. With 25 candles inside, that works out as 72p for each carefully scented tealight.
It has excited festive shoppers as scores of the John Lewis Scented Tealight Candle Advent Calendar are still selling under the new money-saving price.
The candle advent calendar is described as containing a glass candle holder and first tealight in door number one to "start your advent". "Behind each number contains the scented tealight for that day," the store spokesperson added.
"This advent calendar contains 25 x 11g tealight candles. Each candle burns for approximately four hours.
"The festive candle scents include Cinnamon Spiced Vanilla, Frosted Mistletoe and Eucalyptus, Spiced Clementine and Pomegranate."
Available through the John Lewis and Partners website, the John Lewis Scented Tealight Candle Advent Calendar will only be available while stocks last as it is "reduced to clear". Scented candle advent calendars are proving one of the popular alternatives to regular picture and chocolate countdowns to Christmas.
