It's no secret that Digbeth has had a huge overhaul over the past decade, with a vast range of entertainment for all being available across the entire area and the end doesn’t seem to be anywhere in sight. A new nightclub that is an already established name in the capital city is the latest addition to have arrived.

XOYO Birmingham is based on Lower Trinity street in Digbeth and boasts a huge capacity of 2500. The multi-site, multi-level, multi-purpose venue has absorbed and transformed five unique spaces in the area making it one to watch out for.

On immediate entry to XOYO Birmingham, the very particular branding is undeniable with the famous shade of green seen on the company's social media both covering the walls in the foyer and illuminating the walkway through neon signs.

State-of-the-art metal detectors can also be found at the entrance, giving the public that little extra peace of mind concerning safety on a night out in the city as well as bright signage directing you to the many areas, both brand new and revamped.

Visiting the establishment in late September, I was informed of plans to change the mesmerising light displays every quarter to keep the design fresh and exciting, though the lighting currently featured couldn’t accurately be described as anything less, regardless of its age.

The amount of laser light creations in the main room created a euphoric atmosphere of a ‘proper’ rave club. I have never been to Ibiza myself, but it definitely feels like XOYO Birmingham has brought a taste of it to the city.

With multiple outdoor spaces covered in captivating artwork, this place is sure to be a hotspot come summer. The rooftop garden with a floral ceiling and a photo booth supplies attendees with stunning views of the city centre whilst being able to grab a bite to eat from the food vendors that serve delicious treats up there.

The calendar of events before 2024 is extremely busy with the likes of Kisstory and Pure Garage set to have events there as well as XOYO’s weekly Friday nights attracting students and young locals. Collaborations with London DJs familiar with the XOYO brand are to be expected.

If you’re not looking for a typical night out, XOYO Birmingham still has something in store for you as a number of live gigs and daytime raves will also be held at the venue. It was nothing short of amazing to see when I went down for a quiet look around outside of opening hour so I can only imagine how this place transforms when an event is taking place.
