Ice Skate Birmingham is back for Christmas 2023! There's something so Christmassy about skating - the twinkling lights, the festive music, the mug of steaming hot chocolate or mulled wine at the end.

Work is already underway in Centenary Square in Birmingham City Centre as the rink is being built ready for its grand opening next month - a day earlier than last year. It is the city's biggest all-weather festive skating rink and there are penguin skating aids for children.

The Big Wheel will be back too, offering panoramic views across the city, perfect for rides at dusk as the sun goes down and the skyline starts to light up. The Ice Lounge is returning too, offering a range of festive food and drinks for skaters and spectators.

Poll: Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?

A spokesman for Ice Skate Birmingham said on its website: "A roof will cover the entire rink to keep you covered from any rain or snow that may fall! There is no need to delay booking your tickets based on the weather forecast and potentially missing out on your preferred slot! Nothing can rain on your parade this year so book now!"

Ice Skate Birmingham opening dates, times and tickets

Festive skating will run from Thursday November 2, 2023 to Sunday January 7, 2024. The rink is open daily from 10am to 10pm. You can buy tickets from the box office but advance booking online is recommended to avoid disappointment.

Each ice skating session will take place on the hour and will last for 45 minutes. People are advised to arrive 30 minutes prior to their skate session to allow enough time to scan tickets and get into their skates.

Tickets cost £13 for adults, £11 for children aged 12 and under and £12 for students. You can also buy a Family ticket for £42 which admits either two adults and two children or one adult and three children. Penguin skating aids cost £5 each. Find out more and book tickets via the Ice Skate Birmingham website.
