Buses diverted last night

NX West Midlands tweeted last night at around 5.30 that buses were diverted on Great Hampton Row due to a police incident.

It's unclear if that is the same police incident as this morning. If so, it means the road has now been closed for over 14 hours.

We have contacted West Midlands Police for a statement on the closure and will you any official lines as they come in.

What's caught up in the closure?

It's not a massive stretch of Great Hampton Row closed this morning, but it does include several businesses, including grocery stores, and homes including some city tower blocks. It's unclear at this point if those in homes are able to come and go or if the corden is keeping them in their homes.

Where is the closure?

This morning's closure on Great Hampton Row is between Smith Street and Marlborough Crescent.

That route could be used to get to the ring road at Lucas Circus. If that's your usual route, best find another way around this morning.

We'll bring you the latest on this incident as we know it, and on the road closure.
