There’s a brand new Christmas trail coming to Birmingham. In previous years, we’ve enjoyed Walking with the Snowman and the Penguin Parade trail. This year, you can take a wintery walk with The Snowdogs inspired by the animated sequel to Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman™.

And it looks super cute! The Snowdogs Discover Birmingham Trail will launch across the city centre on Wednesday November 8, 2023 and will feature 10 festively painted Snowdog sculptures at various locations such as the German Christmas Market, Bullring & Grand Central, The Mailbox and the Great Western Arcade.

Head to Ice Skate Birmingham, Piccadilly Arcade, Victoria Square and Christmas in Cathedral Square to spot more adorable sculpted doggies there too! It’s Central BID’s annual Christmas trail, in partnership with Colmore BID, Southside BID, Westside BID and Frankfurt Christmas Market.

Poll: Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?

The trail has been created by Wild in Art, who initially brought the much-loved Big Hoot to Brum. Just like the previous years, it is completely free to discover. It runs right through to Thursday January 4, 2024 so you can enjoy it over the Christmas holidays and into the new year too.

You can download a pdf of the Christmas in Birmingham map here:

Each Snowdog sculpture has been decorated by artists inspired by the wonderful feeling of Christmas and will help to raise funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity. Families can follow the ten-letter Children’s Hospital challenge to be in with a chance of winning a £100 city centre dining voucher, courtesy of Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.
