We were first through the doors of the new Marks & Spencer store at Bullring Birmingham today. And the new shop is looking amazing. Spanning two floors, there's womenswear and beauty on the top floor and childrenswear, menswear and homeware on the lower floor. This is where you'll also find the new M&S Foodhall too.

We were excited about the new Coffee Counter too, which is right next to a huge counter of pastries to go. Sadly, there's no M&S Cafe so you can't sit down to tuck into your coffee and treats.

The footwear department is said to be the biggest yet in the new M&S stores. This is one of seven set to open across the UK before Christmas.

Poll: Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?

Shoppers making their way to the grand opening were in for a treat, with shopping bags and 'Golden ticket' giveaways being handed out to people in the 100-strong queue. Once inside, we discovered 'Golden hangers' on selected items. Customers with a golden hanger received £5 off at the till when they spent £30.

There was also the chance to have a Percy Pig manicure! What's not to love?! The partywear looks super sparkly and there's an abundance of festive red cardigans and jumpers. You'll find Autograph and the Trouser Studio here too.

Take a look at our gallery of photos from M&S opening day at the Bullring today:

Our reporter Dayna Farrington is there for the opening today and she said: "It looks amazing in here. It looks really bright and spacious compared to Debenhams which used to be here. The lighting and higher ceilings make it seem huge, and there's lots more room to shop and so much stuff to buy. There's only two floors and Debenhams had four but it still seems a lot bigger.

"When you enter the store at the bottom floor by Entertainer, you go in and there is the mens department on your right, then on your left is the food hall. There's a flower shop in there, a bakery and coffee counter at the back and a little wine shop too. Through the menswear section there's a kids dept and then a bit of home, but not a lot actually. And there are changing rooms and tills downstairs. Everything on the top floor is women and beauty. It's huge.

"I could spend hours here. The little Christmas shop is my favourite bit at the moment, it's upstairs by womens and lingerie. You can get matching festive pyjamas, little gifts, decorations and more. The shoe dept is also amazing, it's one of the biggest in all M&S."

One new concept for the store is the ability to pay for items in the changing room. We guess this means you could, potentially, try on a new outfit and leave wearing it - we'll bring you more on this soon.

Click and Collect is available in the new store. The Foodhall is large with a section devoted to Peppa Pig and Colin the Caterpillar. There's a whole range of festive food in store already plus ready meals, a large wine selection and a flower shop.

The new Marks and Spencer store is open from 9am to 8pm Monday to Saturday, and 11am to 5pm on Sundays.
