An elderly woman has been hit by a car in Wolverhampton city centre. The pedestrian suffered 'potentially serious' injuries as a result of the collision.

Emergency services were called to Pipers Row at 11.05am on Monday, November 6. The casualty was treated by medics at the scene before being taken to Wolverhampton's New Cross Hospital.

The incident led to West Midlands Metro services being halted between the city's railway station and The Royal. Normal service resumed at around 11.33am.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Pipers Row in Wolverhampton at 11.05am. An ambulance, paramedic officer, MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic and the air ambulance critical care car from Cosford were sent to the scene.

"On arrival, crews discovered a car and a pedestrian had been involved in a collision. The pedestrian, an elderly woman, had suffered potentially serious injuries and was treated by ambulance crews at the scene before being conveyed to New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, for further treatment."
