Cadbury has issued an apology and admitted it HAS made a major change to chocolates after customer said "that’s NOT what I bought". Consumers and chocolate fans buying the Christmas treats have been left in shock after discovering normal-size Twirls in Heroes tubs.

A shopper sniped: "We bought a box of Cadbury Heroes and were shocked to see full size twirls included. What's the craic?" The consumer went on, asking the chocolate giant: "Looks like they ran out of the hero size and chucked in two twirls. It's not what I bought or ordered."

Cadbury said: "We're sorry to hear you are not happy with this change. Due to supply chain issues, in a small percentage of Heroes tubs we have temporarily substituted bitesize Cadbury Twirl to the slightly larger Cadbury Twirl 21g. This means you will still have the same amount of chocolate to enjoy in every tub!"

"They did they because of a shortage of mini ones, one big one probably replaces 3 mini ones at least," a fan wrote on Reddit. Digital said: "Is this post from an alternate universe?" Another commented: "As these are filled by machine and not counted in the tubs, there must have been a malfunction or running low on the Twirl line."

Plumb said: "Ran out of mini Twirl wrappers or the machine was down." Mag said: "Okay, fair enough they're not even in heroes, but at first glance I thought you'd already picked out all the bountys to chuck in the bin, instead it's just a land rover(?) pattern." Deleted said: "Sounds like a Scooby Doo episode, mystery of the long twirls."

Map said: "I think there is a shortage of Twirls. I have two tubs. Only two Twirls in each tub. Not the long 21g bars but the bite size. Considering buying a bag of bite size Twirls off eBay just so there isn't an insultingly number to eat over Xmas. Usually there are 5 in the tub. To compensate they added a few more Whispas."
