One of Birmingham's finest restaurants has been named among the cheapest places to eat Michelin Star food. Simpsons in Edgbaston was named by Michelin among the best value spots to dine on Star-rated fare.

Michelin highlighted a number of restaurants around Britain in their 'cheapest Michelin Star restaurants for lunch' list adding that Simpsons also offers 'affordable Michelin Star dining at dinner'. The Cross in Kenilworth, which offers a three-course lunch menu for £50, also featured on the run-down.

Describing Simpsons, Michelin calls the Highfield Road restaurant a 'long-standing jewel of the local culinary scene'. It writes: "The knowledge and experience of head chef Luke Tipping shows through in the assured, confident nature of the cooking – and he has the skill to know when to hold back.

"Dishes are balanced and pure, with subtle modern touches and a pleasing clarity of flavour; be sure to try the signature tapenade bread rolls and delicious soufflés. Service is enthusiastic and brims with personality. The building also houses three stylish bedrooms and a cookery school."
