Just six months after starting his managerial career, Hereford boss Paul Caddis is already attracting the attention of clubs higher up the league pyramid.

Caddis, whose career is probably best remembered for playing for Scotland and scoring the legendary stoppage time goal that saved Birmingham City from relegation to League One, has done well since taking over at Edgar Street in May.

So far this season he has led the National League North outfit through three qualifying rounds and into the First Round of the FA Cup where they were beaten by League Two Gillingham.

And after a difficult spell where the Bulls lost five of six games in August-September, they have now recorded five wins in nine to sit tenth in the table – just two points off the play-offs, decent progress after last season’s 16th place finish. That comes against a back-drop of a summer budget cut and a complete squad overhaul.

Crowds have also improved and Caddis, who has a 52 per cent win ratio in all competitions, has caught the eye of several clubs who are monitoring his progress, including National League side Woking who are 14th in the fifth tier.

Caddis, who also lost both front-line strikers in pre-season, came through at Celtic before moving on to Swindon Town and then to Blues, first on loan and then permanently. He would go on to stay for five years and play 159 games, scoring 16 times including that fabled equaliser at Bolton Wanderers.

He started coaching after hanging up his boots and worked in Fleetwood Town’s academy before taking up his first managerial post in the off-season.
