Amazon shoppers are singing the praises of an electric blanket that they say has left them "really impressed" in the daily mission of keeping warm at night. For those that conscious of running up their energy bills during the colder months, electric blankets are a good way of keeping the heat in.

The Silentnight Comfort Control Electric Blanket Double is currently on sale on Amazon for £26.60 in its Black Friday deals, which have started this week. A whopping 38,000 reviews have been left on Amazon for the blanket, which has been reduced in price from £35.00.

One delighted shopper wrote: "Really impressed with this heated blanket. So soft and the quality is amazing! A lot of people have commented that this is too small for a double, however it is not meant to reach the top where your pillows are because that would be pointless! If you position it further down under where your pillows would be it is the perfect fit for a double. The heat settings are easy to use and gets really warm super quickly but not boiling hot that you burn yourself or anything. Looking forward to using this throughout winter. Also just a side note this is a UK brand and comes as standard with a UK plug so again if you are from another part of the world be mindful of that! "

Another happy customer added: "I tried putting this between the bedsheet and my mattress cover but you can feel it through the bedsheet so I put it under the mattress cover, it's only a thin 1, and it's still toasty and a lot more comfortable. It works pretty well on 2 and I mostly use 3 to get the bed really warm but it doesn't feel like it's on fire.

"Did sleep with it on 1 by accident one night and I was a bit hot in the morning but, again, not feeling like I was trying to roast myself. Would definitely recommend, it fits my smaller double bed and it's long enough the it goes from the bottom of the bed up to my pillows, last 1 I had was longer but it sort of sat in the middle of my single bed so the edges were a bit chilly, but this goes right to the edge of my bed so no surprise cold spots."

Others did highlight improvements, such as this shopper: "Just fitted this and disappointed. First heat setting does nothing, third gets warm but doesn’t last long enough. Still need hot water bottle. Fits well but for me the cable is on wrong side of bed as I have no socket so it is upside down. Good quality and appearance."

Others said it fell short of expectations, with one customer commenting: "Please note the size of this electric blanket it is quite small." There are alternative electric blankets on the market if you are looking for something a bit different. Slumberdown warm hugs electric blanket is for sale at Argos for £35 and is praised for heating up "lovely and fast."

On the higher end of the scale, Dreamland 'intelli-heat' blankets are also for sale at Argos, costing between £60 and £100. Shoppers mention it being of "good quality" as well as being easy to use.
